About Tobacco-free LeFlore County
Tobacco-free LeFlore County (TLC) is a program of the LeFlore County Coalition for Healthy Living and LeFlore County Youth Services, Inc.  TLC is made possible through a grant through the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust.

The Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust was established through a constitutional amendment approved by Oklahoma voters in November 2000. While most state governments have failed to keep their promise to use tobacco settlement funds for tobacco prevention and other programs to improve health, Oklahomans have created an endowment to assure that funds will be available for these purposes for generations to come.

Tobacco-free LeFlore County is a Communities of Excellence in Tobacco Control Program.  Community-based programs are an essential element of any successful, statewide initiative to reduce tobacco use. Community grantees work with coalitions comprised of community leaders, schools, businesses, health care providers, and other partners to promote effective policies and programs to reduce tobacco use at the local level.

Tobacco-free LeFlore County was initially funded in October 2010.  In that time, TLC has assisted 5 Public Schools in adopting 24/7 Tobacco-free School Policies as well as Kiamichi Technology Center (Poteau/Spiro) and Carl Albert State College in adopting Tobacco-free Campus Policies.
